What are filter fleece and nonwovens?

Nonwovens are fabrics made from fibres with a limited length, continuous fibres or cut yarns. Filter fleeces or nonwovens are made from polyester or polyamide, among other materials. The structure is made of textile fibres. These can be easily moulded and beige. This means that the filter material can be processed and laid flexibly. This results in a wide range of possible applications.

Properties and possible applications

Filter fleece made from polyester fibres is water-permeable. However, suspended matter or soil particles in the water cannot pass through the filter material. It is used to filter soil components and dirt particles and thus keep the pond water clean. In addition, certain areas can be protected from heavy soiling.

Fleece filters are probably the most effective pond filters. The water clarity achieved with a fleece filter is unrivalled. All dirt particles are removed from the pond. In contrast to other pond filters and filter methods, the dirt particles are not broken down in the pond water. The important nutrients are thus retained in the pond water. This ensures healthy fauna and flora in and around your pond.

How a fleece filter works

The filter fleece is the filter medium in a fleece filter. It is inserted into rollers and transported through the filter by a transport mechanism, depending on how dirty it is. A sensor reacts immediately if the filter fleece is dirty. A heavily soiled fleece affects the water flow. It is lower and the water level rises. The fleece is then transported further. This mechanism ensures that the filter fleece only needs to be changed when necessary and when it is heavily soiled.
