These are the properties of the 105 g jute fabric from Aquagart

Jute fabric 105 g from Aquagart consists of 100 percent natural fibres and forms a natural erosion layer for mounds. They are tear-resistant, stable and durable, and are also easy to lay. The natural fibres are woven together in such a way that they protect the pond liner underneath. We offer our 105 g/m² jute fabric in one metre width.

How to apply the 105 g jute fabric

In principle, the 105 g jute fabric should be installed quickly after delivery if you have created an artificial slope. It is in danger of erosion, as there are no plants with roots on it to stabilise it. This is also the case with fresh mounds of earth. Jute fabric 105 g has transverse fibres which are held together by a top and bottom net. They can be sprinkled with seed after laying.

Install the jute fabric 105 g by laying it along the slope or bank. You must then fasten it with fastening anchors made of wood or steel. The anchors are available from Aquagart in lengths from 200 mm to 400 mm.

Laying the 105 g jute fabric

To avoid mistakes, we recommend that you first find out what width the 105 g jute fabric needs. If you want to use the fabric for pond construction purposes, you should take the bank terraces into account in your calculation. The aim is that the cut of the jute fabric 105 g has the same length as the pond bank. The width results from the dimensions of the bank terrace, the bank wall and the suction barrier.

First unroll the 105 g jute fabric over the entire area to be covered. Protruding parts can be carefully cut off with scissors or a carpet knife, taking care not to damage the pond liner. Then attach the anchors or, alternatively, use large, heavy stones to fix the fabric securely in place. We recommend the use of sand and gravel or porous lava stone for slurrying the jute fabric 105 g, i.e. covering it. The latter supports the filtering of the water and favours the rapid growth of the plants.

Now spread the seeds over the 105 g jute fabric. Here you have the option of varying between different types of flowers and moss. However, make sure that you place the plants in the pond according to their needs to ensure harmonious growth and a healthy exchange of nutrients.

Various uses for jute fabric 105 g

Use jute fabric 105 g for the garden pond

Give your garden pond an aesthetic appearance with jute fabric 105 g. Due to its low weight, it is ideal for fastening in shallow or slightly sloping ponds. It also stores a considerable amount of water and protects the underlying pond liner from possible damage - effectively preventing cracks in the liner and delaying its ageing.

Another advantage of jute fabric 105 g is that it enables plants to develop a stable root system, which favours easy establishment. Even if the jute fabric 105 g rots after a few years, the soil remains protected as the roots of the plants take over its function.

Jute fabric 105 g as frost protection

It is also possible to use jute fabric 105 g as frost protection in the garden in the same way as covering tarpaulins. The soil is protected from light frost, while at the same time the plants and shrubs are provided with a barrier against the icy temperatures. You can use the 105 g jute fabric for both the garden and for potted plants. Tie it around the trunk to create natural winter protection. Wintervlies can also be used for this task.

Other possible uses for jute fabric 105 g

As a jute sack, jute fabric can also be used as packaging material. As an environmentally friendly alternative to plastic bags, it is becoming increasingly important in everyday life. It can also be processed into speciality paper, coarse yarn and carpets. As a renewable raw material, jute successfully competes with domestic natural fibres such as flax and hemp in fibre composites.

When using jute fabric 105 g, make sure that it really is made of 100 percent natural fibres, as chemical additives in mixed fabrics could harm the plants and fish. As an alternative to jute fabric, we also offer coconut mats as embankment mats, which are also made from 100 per cent natural fibres.
