Properties of coconut mats
Our coconut mats are made of 100 percent coconut (natural fibre) and are therefore a natural product. The roll width is 1.0 m and the mesh size is approximately 15 mm x 15 mm. Installation of coco mats
First lay the coco mat on the desired spot on a slope or on the pond bank. The mat must be fixed in place, otherwise there is a risk of it slipping. To prevent the mat from slipping, it is best to secure the coconut mat to the ground with anchors. These are nails made of wood or steel, which are between 200 mm and 400 mm long. You must also make sure that there is no connection to the pond's surroundings, as this can cause water to be sucked out of the pond.
The optimum width of the coconut mat depends on the pond depth, i.e. the uppermost terrace of your garden pond. For example, if this is 10 to 20 cm below the water surface, a 60 to 70 cm wide bank mat is sufficient. However, it is advisable to buy a wider mat and cut it to the desired width with a cutter knife. If the terrace is deeper, a wider coconut mat must be used, which is over one metre wide. Even steep and low-lying terraces are no problem, as they can simply be rolled out. If there are curves, you can easily level out the unevenness by cutting out a triangle at this point. Wider strips can also be laid crosswise.
