Greenhouse film - versatile material for the garden, house and yard
Ambitious hobby gardeners don't just rely on good weather and their green fingers when it comes to growing new plants, colourful flowers or fresh vegetables. But it doesn't necessarily have to be the classic greenhouse with glass panes. You can create the ideal growing conditions for your plants much more cheaply and easily by getting creative yourself and building a greenhouse or foil tunnel from transparent foil. Both variants not only prove their worth in the garden, but can also be used creatively in other areas. If you are going on a camping holiday, for example, you can also use our greenhouse film as rain protection for a tent roof.
The advantages of greenhouse film
By growing your vegetables under greenhouse film, you create a warmer climate in a natural way. Our films are designed to enable efficient heat regulation by capturing the sun's heat while preventing overheating. By using greenhouse film, the air inside the film heats up, which means that the temperature inside the greenhouse is always a few degrees warmer than the outside temperature. A transparent greenhouse film provides plants with optimum temperatures to thrive and grow faster. In addition, young plants are protected from harmful weather influences such as hail and frost by using the film. It is made of polyethylene, which makes it very robust and gives it a long service life. It can therefore be used for several growing seasons without any problems
.Thanks to the integrated fibre composite, the greenhouse films are also UV-resistant and wind and waterproof. Transparent films are ideal for the garden area and can be used to cover greenhouses or tomato houses, as a foil tunnel for early beds, as a cover for garden furniture, sandboxes and swimming pools as well as firewood piles.
.The construction of a greenhouse using greenhouse films
To grow, your plants need warmth and plenty of sunlight. Unfortunately, these conditions do not always exist in Germany. To provide your plants with optimum growing conditions, we recommend building a greenhouse. You can do this quickly and easily with the help of greenhouse film. The robust yet flexible film can simply be stretched over a scaffold, as with tent construction, and can be easily replaced if necessary if the greenhouse film has been damaged by various weather conditions. For minor damage such as tears or holes, you can also use our repair tape to mend the greenhouse film. No expensive special tools are needed to customise the tear-resistant greenhouse film. The film can be cut to size with normal scissors.
Another option is to overwinter various potted plants under a greenhouse covered with greenhouse film. Read our blog post to find out how you can build a greenhouse from film!
Greenhouse film vs. mesh film - what's the difference
When building a new greenhouse, many gardeners toy with the idea of using the grid film that is already in the garden as a cover. This looks similar at first glance, but does not offer the same conditions for the growth of your plants. Your greenhouse film should be as light, transparent and clear as possible to let in as much sunlight as possible. Mesh films are often thicker than greenhouse films and allow less light through, especially on sunny days. On shady days with less light, there may even be a slight darkening in the greenhouse, as the films are often coloured.
