Types and functions of shade nets

With the right shade net, you can enjoy your plants and your harvest all the more, as they are protected from unpredictable weather conditions thanks to the protective netting. Shading nets are also very popular as wind and privacy screens on balconies, patios or tennis courts. They can also be used as reliable protection against hail damage, late frost or overheating in the greenhouse, as shading nets prevent your plants from being ruined by these external influences.

Aquagart offers you a choice of weather and UV-resistant shading nets in various sizes, thicknesses and shading values. Thanks to the robust buttonhole strip, you can quickly and easily secure the net to your desired location using cable ties or cords. Browse through our range in the online shop now and find the right shade net for you!

The shade net: The friend and helper in your garden

The shade nets can be used to protect your plants in different ways. If there is a late frost at night, you can place the nets over your seedlings to protect them. Evergreen plants also benefit from a protective shade net, as this prevents dehydration of the woody plants. Thin and therefore lightweight shading nets are very popular as sun protection in greenhouses or foil tunnels. This prevents the plants from overheating on hot days. After installing the shade net, ensure that the greenhouse is well ventilated to prevent heat build-up.

On the fence, the shade net is not only the perfect privacy screen, but also an exceptionally good windbreak: This way you no longer have to worry about bent stems and damaged flowers. Thanks to the shade net, you can protect your garden or even a sports facility such as a tennis court or basketball court from prying eyes. The somewhat thicker shade nets are particularly suitable for use as privacy screens due to their greater opacity. Thanks to the high quality and strong weather resistance, you can enjoy your garden protection for many years to come. We offer the shade net in two different colours: in a muted olive colour or in a more vibrant, fir-coloured shade.

Shading nets as sun protection for your plants in the greenhouse

On hot summer days, heat can quickly build up in a closed greenhouse due to the greenhouse effect and the critical temperature mark of 35 °C can be quickly exceeded around midday. Above this temperature, most plants become too hot and can suffer long-term damage due to overheating. To ensure that your hard work in the garden is not in vain, you should protect the plants in the greenhouse with a shade net. Simply stretch this over the greenhouse to prevent unwanted heating of the interior. Despite the heat protection, the robust and tear-resistant material of the shade net allows the UV rays that are important for plant growth to pass through without becoming brittle and tearing. Due to rising temperatures, it is advisable to install the shade net on the greenhouse as early as the end of May and not remove it again until mid-September.

Shading nets can be used not only in the greenhouse, but also on your plants in outdoor areas by carefully stretching the net over the plants and ideally weighting it down at the edges or fixing it to the ground. They not only provide protection from the sun, but also from unwanted animals such as birds, which can reduce your harvest. Birds tend to damage seeds and fruit, which not only affects the yield but also jeopardises the health of the plants. The installation of shade nets creates a physical barrier that prevents birds from causing damage and thus improves the yield and quality of your crop.

By the way: The shading nets also have another positive side effect. If they are stretched over the greenhouse, the weather-resistant products not only offer protection from the sun, but also prevent hail damage.

How to find the right shade net

The shade nets in our online shop are available in various weights. The density of the mesh should be selected according to the needs of your plants and the intensity of the sunlight. The density provides information about the amount of material used per square metre. The following applies: The more material is used per square metre, the more tear-resistant and opaque the shade net is. A thicker net should therefore be used for plants that require greater protection from the sun's rays
