Properties of fence anchors
Fence anchors are made of thick galvanised steel strip, have a material thickness of 1.3 mm and are 50 cm or 70 cm long. Fence anchors have a punched-out tab so that they can be hooked into the fence. This punched-out flap is W-shaped and therefore particularly stable.
The fence ground anchors are available to buy in different quantities These quantities range from 10 to 50 fence anchors in increments of 10. If you need more fence ground anchors, you can also purchase a pack of 75, 100, 150, 200 or 250 fence anchors. This is a quality product made in Germany.
Building a deer fence
To start building the fence, determine the position of the Z-profile fence posts. If there are large distances between the posts, a rope should be stretched between them as a construction aid so that the posts are stretched in a line between the starting and corner posts. You should also make sure that the depth of all posts is uniform. A distance of up to 50 metres is recommended so that the game fence rolls can be overlapped for optimum hold. If there is high game pressure in the area where the fence is to be erected, you can also choose a significantly smaller post spacing to further stabilise the fence.
Then attach the wire mesh to the posts, hammer the fence anchors into the ground and hang the lower guide wire of the fence in the lug of the fence anchor. To ensure an even more stable hold, you should tension a tension wire. With wire tensioners, which are usually attached to the starting and corner posts, these can then be tensioned, which also gives the fence more stability. In addition, one wire is usually not enough to tighten very large areas, which is why several should be used. The struts ensure that the wildlife fence is even more stable. They can be used to support the start, end and corner posts. These are braced once each with Z-profiles. Corner posts should also be double braced. This gives the wildlife fence an even better hold in the ground.
Location of the wildlife fence
Fence anchors are particularly advisable not only for large post spacings, but also on slopes or embankments. Animals find it easy to dig underneath, especially on slopes. Slopes can also loosen the soil or slightly raise the wildlife fence, making it easier for wild animals to get under the fence. It may therefore be necessary to compact soil that is too loose.
When choosing a location for the fence, you should also pay attention to the trees in the neighbourhood. Old trees are often rotten and can simply fall over. Large trees can also lose heavy branches during storms and thus tear down the fence. Therefore, if possible, you should keep your distance from trees or support them. If fence interruptions do occur due to trees or other circumstances, these should be repaired as quickly as possible with replacement material from the wildlife fence.
