The features and possible uses of 3 mm tensioning wires

We offer you our 3 mm tension wires made of thick galvanised and high-strength steel wire. One ring has 125 metres of wire. You can also choose to place several rings in one order so that you receive up to 625 metres of tension wire.

Our tensioning wires with a diameter of 3 mm can be tensioned between two posts to increase the resistance of the fence. To do this, the wire is pulled taut using a wire tensioner. Without this tension, the fence would be much more unstable, especially with larger distances between the posts. In such cases, lateral loads can occur, which can lead to fractures as the loads act on the mounting points.

To optimise the load on the fence, it should be checked regularly to ensure that the tension is evenly distributed over the entire wire. A well-tensioned wire ensures a more durable fencing system and reduces the risk of material defects that could occur due to uneven loading. It is important to note that overstretching the wire should be avoided at all costs, otherwise its service life could be shortened. Excessive tensioning can lead to accelerated wear and cause the tensioning wire to break at 3 mm. It is also advisable to purchase both the 3 mm tension wire and the wire tensioner from the same manufacturer, ideally as a complete set. This ensures optimum harmonisation of the materials. Properly attach the 3 mm tension wire to the fence

When installing the 3 mm tensioning wire, make sure that you tension it from the bottom up. Only when there is a certain amount of tension throughout the fence can you tighten the wire on all parts so that there is stable pressure on all sides of the fence.

One speciality is knotted mesh and wire mesh fences. For these, it is necessary to weave the tensioning wire 3 mm with the structure. Determine the appropriate height for the wire tensioner on the fence post, after which the knotted mesh can be laid. By regularly re-tensioning the wire, you ensure that your fence remains stable and reliably fulfils its purpose even after years of use.

It is important that the wire used is insulated and that there is no contact between the wire tensioner and the live elements.
