Properties of cramps
Cramps are U-shaped connecting elements that look like staples. Cramps can be used to attach ropes, straps or wires. In addition to the characteristic u-shape, the two needle points are also typical of staples, as they allow easy penetration into wood or similar materials. The characteristic U-shape distributes the load evenly, which ensures secure and durable fastening.
The Aquagart staples are thickly galvanised and therefore water-resistant and protected against rust. They have a wire thickness of 3.1 mm and a length of 31 mm and are sold by the kilo from one to 15 kilograms. One kilogramme corresponds to approx. 280 pieces. The Aquagart cramps are made in Germany and are of high quality.
Use of wire loops
Cramps are used to fasten the individual rows of wild fence wire along the entire length of the fence post. This ensures a stable connection between the fence and the post that can withstand heavy loads, such as those caused by animals or the weather. To do this, the individual staples are hammered in over the wire so that the wire is firmly anchored between them and the fence post. To ensure maximum stability, the staples should be driven into the fence post as straight and centred as possible. To do this, always try to hit the centre of the U-shaped arch of the cramp to prevent it from slipping or bending. Depending on the material and intended use, it can of course also be advantageous to hammer in the cramp on one side only. For an even and visually appealing installation, it is advisable to place the staples at regular intervals - every 20 to 30 cm, depending on the height and load of the fence. Staples are not only suitable for game fences, but can also be used in a variety of ways. They can be used for other wire netting such as wire mesh, rabbit wire or barbed wire. Their applications range from securing livestock fences to securing safety nets and garden projects. Even on slopes or uneven terrain, staples offer a reliable fastening solution.
In principle, staples can be installed by non-professionals with a little skill. For beginners, we recommend using a staple holder or a magnetic head hammer to avoid injuring your fingers.
Building a deer fence with staples
When building a deer fence, first hammer the Z-profile fence posts as straight as possible into the ground. Then you should brace them to stabilise the posts. You can also stretch a cord between the start and end posts or between the corner posts as an assembly aid. You can then use these to measure the exact distance between the posts and ensure that they are in a row. Then simply hook the wire mesh of the fence into the Z-profiles. In the next step, you should pull the wires alternately through the inside and outside of the mesh. You then tension these with wire tensioners, which are attached to each end of one side of the fence. Next, use pliers to close the hooks in which the fence is hung. The last step is to secure the wire mesh to the ground with fence anchors. This is particularly important for extensive fences with large gaps between the posts, for fences on slopes and on embankments to prevent animals from getting in or out. Finally, attach the staples to the posts and the fence is complete.

Cramps can also be used for other purposes. The wire loops are therefore ideal for building fences and rabbit enclosures. An enclosure that is fastened with rabbit wire should be particularly sturdy so that the pets living in it are well protected from potential predators. A staple-fastened fence is also ideal for fencing off flower beds or fruit and vegetable patches to keep wild animals out.
